Launch of the new CXC-20 ALD/Parylene Deposition Cluster

COAT-X is proud to announce the launch of the new CXC-20 ALD/Parylene Deposition Cluster. In its continuous pursuit of improving the barrier performance of protective coatings, COAT-X has developed a new generation of multilayer composite coatings. These best-in class protection coatings combine parylene and ceramic layers, produced through Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) and Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) processes. As a result of this innovation, COAT-X offers the CX ULTIMA coating, an ultra-high barrier solution with exceptionally low water vapor transmission rates, as a contract coating service at its Swiss facility. This advanced coating is designed to protect highly sensitive products, such as Active Implantable Medical Devices (AIMD), against corrosion and degradation over time. Building on this expertise, COAT-X is now making this breakthrough technology accessible to a wider audience with the launch of the CXC-20, an integrated ALD/CVD deposition cluster of the last generation.

The CXC-20 features a fully automated handling system that coordinates both the ALD reactor (for ceramic layers) and the CVD reactor (for parylene deposition), each with a 20-liter capacity. This intelligent automation enables the creation of complex multilayer structures with multiple interlayers without manual intervention. Additional or larger ALD and CVD reactors can be easily added, thanks to its modular, scalable design. This allows boosted throughput and productivity as the needs grow.

The CX ULTIMA barrier coatings produced using the CXC-20 ALD/CVD deposition cluster technology have already been successfully applied to AIMDs, demonstrating implant lifetimes exceeding 10 years. This unique technology is the result of extensive R&D by COAT-X and represents a major advancement in high-performance barrier coating solutions.
